We also help companies that still run legacy platforms such as IBM i, build modern solutions using PHP.

For nearly two decades, Zend has helped evolve the PHP language and how it is used by global leaders. Here is a snapshot of our historical milestones:

1997

Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski create PHP 3, an open source scripting language based on the initial version of PHP, created by Rasmus Lerdorf.

1999

Gutmans and Suraski create?PHP 4,?Zend Engine?—?an open source parser for PHP 4 and later?and the company, Zend Technologies.

2006

Zend Technologies releases Zend Framework, an open source, web-application deployment framework.

2009

The first Zend Server is released. It runs on Linux and Windows — and includes PHP, Zend Framework, Z-Ray monitoring tools, and enterprise support for PHP.

2009

Zend Technologies collaborates with other organizations including IBM and Microsoft, to create the Simple API for Cloud Application Services.

2013

Zend Server 6 is released. It runs natively on the IBM i platform.

2014

Zend Server is available on AWS.

2015

Zend Server is available on Microsoft Azure.

2015

Zend Technologies is acquired by Rogue Wave Software.

2019

Rogue Wave Software transitions the Zend Framework to an open source project called Laminas, which is hosted by the Linux Foundation.

2019

Rogue Wave Software is acquired by Perforce Software. And?Zend?becomes Zend by Perforce.
